The history of the business started with Bill's father, Arthur
Cook. He started Black Diamond Tire Company which soon turned
into Cook's Tire Center. The tire business became a family
affair. Bill's father, brother, sisters, and brother-in-law
joined into the tire business, spanning from Maryland, Delaware,
North Carolina, and Virginia.
Operating
since 1966, Wholesale Tire Company was started as a home-based
business. Bill bought used tires and casings and sold them
from his home. He did this for about 2 years, until he rented a
building on Washington Boulevard in Jessup, Maryland. From there, he
moved to Dorsey Road in Hanover, Maryland where he bought property and two buildings. He
built a 20,000 SF warehouse to store the tires. Bill
stayed in business in Maryland for more than 16 years before selling
the Maryland-based business and re-establishing in Virginia. Bill
has been operating in Virginia for more than 20
years. He
started working as a one-man operation, and has now grown to create
jobs for 11 employees. At
Wholesale Tire Company, we repair tires in a chamber. We ship
tires all over the country and overseas. We deliver with a
minimum order of 300 tires. |
